‘A Step Apart’ will be the WORLD’s FIRST short film to be funded, created and distributed using blockchain technology.
The family-drama based on writer/director Ben J. Read’s personal true story, focuses on the child’s perspective of divorce. However, ‘A Step Apart’ tells the story of a more complicated situation; divorce within a step-family.
[BASED ON A TRUE STORY] Jamie, a 10-year-old country boy, who has grown up with his step brother Will, struggles with not only the impending divorce of their parents but the grief of the potential loss of the only sibling he has ever known.
The short film has been in the making for over 4 years. However as of March 2021, production company OneHouse Story Company were determined to tackle a new way of funding, creating and distributing film. It was clear that the film industry hadn’t really tapped into the NFT space yet, and as such this was an exciting new opportunity for independent filmmakers and film lovers.
